A Democratic-Backed House Bill Doesn’t Allow for a Sufficient Expansion of Offshore Drilling

Drilling should be allowed closer to shore to tap big oil and gas deposits in the Outer Continental Shelf. Annual U.S. oil production is about 1.8 billion barrels. The Interior Department has estimated that up to 10 times that amount is potentially recoverable in offshore areas currently off-limits to drillers.
