Check out this video interview in which Karen Moreau, executive director of the New York State Petroleum Council, talks about how advanced hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling launched the ongoing U.S. energy revolution by accessing oil and natural gas held in shale and other tight-rock formations:
Worth repeating:
- Fracking has been used in the U.S. for more than 60 years.
- It is highly regulated at the state and federal levels.
- Safe and responsible drilling is constantly being improved by new developments in equipment, processes, water reuse and testing.
The benefits of shale energy development are broad and meaningful, Moreau says:
“So much opportunity has been created with this shale gas and oil revolution that we’re looking at a situation in this country where over 30 states are doing this, where we’re finding more discoveries every day in places that can be developed that historically were not, and we’re seeing tremendous job creation.”
