Location Tour: Kern River

On Jan. 23 2009, API hosted four bloggers at Chevron’s Kern River Oil Field in San Joaquin Valley, Calif. The bloggers visited the field to learn how the industry is extending the life of older fields with technological innovations. Attendees received presentations and technology demonstrations from on-site engineers and staff, in addition to a field tour.

Throughout the tour, bloggers viewed enhanced oil recovery techniques such as steamflooding, learned about the history of the field, and viewed innovative efficiency practices such as cogeneration, waste water treatment and digital oil field technology.
